Four Mile Creek Wind Farm
The Four Mile Creek Wind Farm Prospect (the Prospect) is about 15 km south of Orange (NSW) on Wiradjuri Country. If approved, it would be built in the Forestry Corporation of New South Wales’s (Forestry Corporation) Canobolas State Forest softwood plantation within Cabonne and Orange Regional Councils near the Cadia mine.
The Investigation Permit was awarded to Iberdrola Australia in May 2024, allowing us to carry out a series of feasibility activities. If the Prospect is deemed feasible, we will continue to develop the project and obtain the necessary planning and grid approvals. This is expected to take up to six years. Iberdrola Australia is also exploring a potential wind farm within the Mullions Range State Forest softwood plantation.
Latest News
Community Consultation
In August and September we held six community drop in sessions in Spring Hill, Millthorpe, Molong and Mullion Creek. We welcomed around 150 people at the sessions.
We also attended the Orange Sustainability Living Expo, the Australian National Field Days and have met with a number of key stakeholders such as the Orange Local Land Council, and project neighbours.
This engagement helps us identify concerns which will be considered in the design phase, understand what is important to stakeholders, identify potential benefits, and collect information for the Social Impact Assessment.
Field Studies
We have completed met mast installation.
The met mast monitor wind and weather conditions at different heights. This data is vital to accurately determine wind speeds, direction, and other weather parameters at sites.
Next Steps
Over the coming months we will:
✔ Continue engagement activities
✔ Refine the design following preliminary studies and community feedback
✔ Progress studies and assessments to support the Scoping Report
Community sponsorship fund
Applications for the first round of early community sponsorships and grants are now open.
Grant amounts of $5,000 and $10,000 are available for local groups, clubs, schools and organisation located near the project site.
Sponsorship applications should be submitted online by Friday 14 February 2025 via the Community Funds and Sponsorships page. In assessing applications, we will consider how they align with our Community and Stakeholder Engagement Policy its objectives, the sustainability of the application, and whether it can be delivered within the proposed time and budget.
Iberdrola Australia is dedicated to collaborating with local communities to ensure our projects leave meaningful, positive, and lasting legacies.
